From Reader to Writer
I remember the first book that I picked out for myself. It was a children's crime book called Treasure Of The Last Dragons by Thomas Brezina, and it was the book that set my love for reading and stories. I read most of his books, drifted to fantasy and thrillers. And now I’m enjoying almost all kinds of stories. From romance to horror and everything in between.
Later in school, at around 16 years old, I tried my hand at writing a fantasy novel. It was bad, really bad, and I gave up on it.
Years later, in 2023, I started to write short stories for myself and got a feel for writing.
In 2024, I wrote a short story titled "What Lurks Outside." I finished it and moved on to other stories, but in the back of my head, this story lingered, and it didn’t feel finished. So I sat down to it again and typed away, and two months later I had a novella that laid the groundwork for the world and characters of Hungry Colours.
On January 1st 2025, the first draft of Hungry Colours began. I had no idea where it would lead. I thought it would be a standalone book, and that would be it. Well, now a whole world has been born and with it a lot of ideas for stories in this world. I will keep exploring it and see where it leads.
With that said, I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I do!
Keep on reading,
David
